MLB: Philadelphia 1, Cincinnati 0 (11)

PHILADELPHIA, July 10 (UPI) -- Travis Wood retired the first 24 Philadelphia batters Saturday only to have Jimmy Rollins drive in a run in the 11th for a Phillies a 1-0 win over Cincinnati.

Wood, making only his third major league appearance after spending more than five years in the minors, had his bid for a perfect game ruined when Cincinnati's Carlos Ruiz opened the ninth with a double.

Ruiz, who came off the disabled list earlier in the day, was eventually stranded at second and the game remained a scoreless tie heading into extra innings.

Like Wood, Philadelphia's Roy Halladay threw nine shutout innings while allowing five hits and striking out nine.

Bill Bray (0-1) worked the 10th inning for Cincinnati and came out to start the 11th, but gave up a one-out double to Ruiz. After Wilson Valdez was intentionally walked, Ross Gload flew out to right.

Logan Ondrusek came on to relieve Bray and Rollins hit his first pitch to right, bringing in Ruiz with the winning run.

Philadelphia won its third straight home game with an extra-inning run, the first time that has happened in the history of the franchise.

Jose Contreras (4-3) struck out two in the top of the 11th to get the victory.
