ARLINGTON, Texas, July 10 (UPI) -- Late home runs from Jake Fox and Corey Patterson rallied the Baltimore Orioles to a 7-6 win over the Texas Rangers in 10 innings Friday.
Fox homered in the 10th inning to cap the rally that began in the ninth with Patterson's grand slam that tied the game and sent it into extra innings.
Jason Berken (2-1) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win, Baltimore's second consecutive victory after a 1-6 stretch heading into the four-game set with the Rangers, who lead the American League West.
"We are keeping these games close and the bullpen is making good pitches and giving us chances to score some runs," said Orioles manager Juan Samuel said.
Baltimore wasn't particularly close in the ninth inning of Friday's game, which was delayed 2 hours, 29 minutes by rain. A pair of singles and a walk loaded the bags with two outs for Patterson, who set a 2-2 offering from Neftali Feliz flying into the upper deck in right field to tie it.
Fox led off the 10th with a home run off Dustin Nippert (3-4) to put the O's on top.
Vladimir Guerrero had three hits, including a three-run homer in the third for Texas. Ian Kinsler went 2-for-5.
