DENVER, July 8 (UPI) -- Chris Iannetta blasted a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday to cap a comeback and hand the Colorado Rockies an 8-7 win over St. Louis.
The Rockies trailed 5-0 in the fifth inning and 7-4 in the eighth but scored four runs in the final two innings to emerge with the win and take the first two contests of their three-game set with the Cardinals.
Iannetta's blast off Evan MacLane (0-1) made a winner of Huston Street (1-1), who tossed a scoreless top of the ninth.
Colorado was able to pull even in the eighth inning thanks to a three-run blast by Dexter Fowler off Cardinals reliever Jason Motte.
Jonathan Herrera and Carlos Gonzalez each collected three hits for the Rockies.
Matt Holliday went 4-for-5, bashed two homers and scored four runs, and Jon Jay homered among three hits for St. Louis, which fell three games behind Cincinnati in the National League Central.
