MLB: Pittsburgh 8, Philadelphia 5

PITTSBURGH, July 4 (UPI) -- Jose Tabata's RBI single highlighted a six-run rally in the seventh inning that lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates to an 8-5 comeback win over Philadelphia Sunday.

Trailing 5-2 entering the seventh, the Pirates erupted for six runs to take the lead and put the game away.

Pedro Alvarez got it going with solo homer off Phillies starter Joe Blanton. With one out and two on, Jose Contreras (3-3) relieved and surrendered a two-run double to Delwyn Young to tie the game 5-5.

The next batter, Tabata, hit a sharp grounder off the glove of Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins to score Young with the go-ahead run.

Garrett Jones added a two-run single to conclude the big inning as the Pirates took three wins in a four-game series with Philadelphia at PNC Park.

Evan Meek (4-2) collected the win after tossing a scoreless seventh and Octavio Dotel notched his 19th save.

Dane Sardinha homered and Raul Ibanez collected two hits and an RBI in the Phillies' loss.
