MLB: Arizona 12, Los Angeles Dodgers 5

PHOENIX, July 3 (UPI) -- Chris Young homered and drove in five runs and Arizona pounded the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-5 in Kirk Gibson's first game as Diamondbacks interim manager.

Young went 3-for-5, scored three runs and blasted a three-run homer to pace a 13-hit attack for last-place Arizona, one day after Manager A.J. Hinch and General Manager Josh Byrnes were fired.

Edwin Jackson (6-6) pitched well enough to win, lasting five innings in which he surrendered four runs on seven hits.

Hiroki Kuroda (7-6) was pounded for six runs on eight hits in just 1 2/3 frames as the Dodgers slipped 3 1/2 games behind San Diego in the National League West.
