MLB: Los Angeles Angels 2, Texas 1

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 2 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver gave up two hits over seven scoreless innings Thursday to lead the Los Angeles Angels past the AL West-leading Texas 2-1.

Weaver (8-3) walked two and struck out six for the Angels, who took two out of three from the Rangers and trail Texas by 3 1/2 games in the division.

Mike Napoli drove in the winning run with a double in the sixth. Howie Kendrick drove in the other Angels run with a first-inning double that brought in Erick Aybar.

Ian Kinsler drove in Elvis Andrus for the Rangers' only run with an eighth-inning single. Josh Hamilton went 0-for-3 and saw his 23-game hitting streak come to an end.

C.J. Wilson (6-4) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and with four strikeouts.
