CHICAGO, July 1 (UPI) -- Miguel Cairo scored on a 10th-inning groundout Thursday, allowing the Cincinnati Reds to claim a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Cincinnati took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the eighth only to have the Cubs tie the score on a Tyler Colvin single.

With one out in the 10th, Cairo delivered a pinch-hit single off Chicago reliever Bob Howry (1-2). Scott Marshall replaced Howry and Jay Bruce singled with Cairo taking third. Howry got Drew Stubbs to ground out but Cairo was able to score the winning run on the play.

Cincinnati starter Travis Wood allowed two hits and two runs over 7-plus innings in his major-league debut. But he walked Geovany Soto and Starlin Castro to open the Cubs' eighth.

Nick Massey replaced Wood and got an out on a sacrificed bunt by Kosuke Fukudome, with the runners moving up. Colvin followed with a hit that tied the score.

The Reds spotted Wood the lead in the first inning when Scott Rolen tripled in Joey Votto. Cincinnati made its 2-0 in the eighth on Johnny Gomes' RBI single.
