CHICAGO, June 30 (UPI) -- Garrett Jones socked a run-scoring double after the Cubs committed an eighth-inning error Wednesday, handing the Pittsburgh Pirates a 2-0 over Chicago.
The Pirates broke open a scoreless pitchers' duel after Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez misplayed a one-out grounder, allowing Andy LaRoche to reach. Andrew McCutchen then singled off Andrew Cashner (0-3) and Jones boomed a double to the base of the center field wall, putting Pittsburgh on top.
The Pirates added an insurance run when Chicago's Sean Marshall issued a bases-loaded walk to Lastings Milledge.
By taking the rubber match of their three-game series at Wrigley Field, Pittsburgh raised its season's record against the Cubs to 9-3.
Brad Lincoln (1-2) tossed seven shutout innings, walking one and fanning six while Octavio Dotel notched his 16th save for the Pirates.
Cubs starter Tom Gorzelanny countered with five scoreless innings in which he scattered four hits.
