CLEVELAND, June 30 (UPI) -- Aaron Laffey and three relievers shut Toronto down on six hits Wednesday to help the Cleveland Indians to a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays.
Laffey (1-2), making only his second start of the year after being recalled from the minors, yielded only one run over six innings, scattering five hits, walking a pair and striking out two.
Frank Herrmann, Joe Smith and Chris Perez combined for three shutout innings of relief, with Perez picking up his seventh save with a perfect ninth.
Shin-Soo Choo and Matt LaPorta homered and Carlos Santana knocked in a run with a sixth-inning single as the Indians equaled a season-best four-game winning streak.
Jesse Litsch (0-3) suffered the loss for the Blue Jays, who fell to just one game above .500 (40-39) with their fourth straight defeat.
