MLB: Cleveland 2, Toronto 1

CLEVELAND, June 28 (UPI) -- Jayson Nix laid down a perfect suicide squeeze bunt in the sixth inning to put Cleveland ahead and the Indians held on to down Toronto 2-1 Monday.

Toronto's Ricky Romero (6-4) began the frame by hitting Travis Hafner with a pitch and Hafner went to third on Jhonny Peralta's double. One out later with the infield drawn in, Hafner took off toward home and Nix bunted to the left of the mound.

Romero dove and tried to flip the ball from his glove to catcher John Buck but Hafner scored, lifting the Indians to only their second win in nine games.

Jake Westbrook (5-4) limited Toronto to six hits and a run with one walk and four strikeouts, while Joe Smith, Rafael Perez, Chris Perez and Kerry Wood teamed up to hold the one-run lead over the final three innings.

Romero allowed only two runs on seven hits in seven innings.
