MLS: Chicago 1, New England 0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., June 27 (UPI) -- Marco Pappa scored in the 30th minute Sunday and the Chicago Fire edged New England 1-0.

Poppa notched his sixth goal of the season after eluding New England midfielder Shalrie Joseph and firing a laser past goalkeeper Matt Reis, providing the only scoring for two teams showing the rust from the league's two-week World Cup break.

With the win, the Fire improved to 4-3-5 and extended their unbeaten streak to five games.

New England, meanwhile, fell to 3-8-2 and has managed just one win in its last 10 league games.
