BALTIMORE, June 25 (UPI) -- Jake Fox scored the winning run on a throwing error by second baseman Cristian Guzman Friday, giving Baltimore a 7-6 victory over Washington.
The Orioles overcame a six-run deficit and still trailed by three heading into the eighth inning.
Baltimore tied it in the eighth thanks to a two-run homer by Scott Moore and an RBI single by Corey Patterson, then produced the winning run in the ninth on a botched attempt at a double play.
Matt Wieters was walked by Tyler Clippard (8-4) with one out in the ninth and went to second on a single by Moore. Fox came on to run for Wieters and Matt Capps relieved Clippard, becoming the seventh pitcher of the game for the Nationals.
Julio Lugo hit a grounder to shortstop Ian Desmond, who tossed to Guzman at second for an out. Guzman's relay throw to first, however, was low and eluded Adam Dunn. The error allowed Fox to score from second.
Alfredo Simon (2-1) worked the top of the ninth to get the inter-league victory.
Baltimore has won consecutive games for the first time since it captured three in a row from May 12-14.
