JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, June 20 (UPI) -- Luis Fabiano notched two goals Sunday and Brazil earned a berth in the knockout round with a 3-1 defeat of Ivory Coast in 2010 World Cup Group G game.
Elano added a marker, scoring in his second straight match, to help Brazil stay atop the group standings with six points and punch their ticket for an 11th straight appearance in the World Cup knockout round.
Fabiano tallied his goals in the 25th and 50th minutes, his second coming with a bit of luck after using two handballs to set up a hypnotizing dash past three defenders. He brought the ball down off his upper arm and fired off goalie Boubacar Barry's fingertips and inside the right post.
Elano's goal came at the 62nd minute at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
Ivory Coast got its goal from Didier Drogba, who headed the ball from 12 yards inside the right post in the 78th minute.
