MLB: Detroit 4, Pittsburgh 3

DETROIT, June 13 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera belted a three-run homer in the eighth inning Sunday to rally the Detroit Tigers to a 4-3 victory over Pittsburgh.

Trailing 2-1 entering the eighth, Detroit began its comeback off starter Jeff Karstens with a lead-off, pinch-hit single by Carlos Guillen. D.J. Carrasco relieved for the Pirates, getting two outs.

But Javier Lopez (1-1) walked Johnny Damon and Octavio Dotel was greeted by Cabrera's opposite-field shot over the right-center field wall, giving the Tigers a sweep of their three-game inter-league series with the Pirates.

Brad Thomas (4-0) picked up the win in relief of Tigers starter Andres Gallaraga, who allowed only two runs on six hits over 7 2/3 innings, walking none and fanning one.

Garrett Jones doubled, homered and drove in three runs for the Pirates, who dropped their eighth straight game.
