ESTORIL, Portugal, June 10 (UPI) -- Luke Goodard and Damien McGrane both shot bogey-free 8-under-par 64 Thursday and are tied for the league of the European Tour's Portugal Open.
Goodard closed with four consecutive birdies and McGrane had five birdies in a 6-hole span in getting to 8-under.
Eirik Tage Johansen and Stuart Manley are tied for the second at 7-under while Richard Bland and Andrew Tampion are another stroke back at 6-under 66. A total of 65 golfers were under par in Thursday's round.
Goodard started his round on the back nine and had an eagle 2 at the 388-yard 11th hole. After par he posted back-to-back birdies at Nos. 13-14. He then had nine consecutive pars before his closing string of four birdies moves him into the lead.
McGrane scattered three birdies around the front nine but started his run at No. 11 with a birdie. He beat par again at Nos. 12 and 13 and, after a par at the 14th hole, had consecutive birdies.
