MLB: Oakland 5, Minnesota 4

OAKLAND, Calif., June 6 (UPI) -- Gio Gonzalez was tough over seven innings, holding Minnesota to two runs Sunday en route to a 5-4 Oakland Athletics victory.

Gonzalez (6-3), who entered the game with a career 28.59 ERA against the Twins in two previous starts, turned his luck around Sunday, limiting Minnesota to six hits, walking only one and fanning four to help the A's avoid a three-game weekend sweep.

Kevin Kouzmanoff and Jack Cust led the A's at the plate, each going 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Minnesota starter Nick Blackburn (6-3) was saddled with the loss, allowing five runs on 10 hits over 2 2/3 innings.

Brian Duensing, Ron Mahay and Alex Burnett teamed up to toss 5 1/3 shutout innings of relief for the Twins.
