CHICAGO, June 5 (UPI) -- Matt Talbot hurled seven strong innings and Austin Kearns scored on a balk Saturday to pace the Cleveland Indians to a 3-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Talbot (7-4) scattered six hits over seven innings, allowing only one run, walking three and striking out five. The rookie won his third game in three starts against the White Sox this year, handing the Indians their second straight victory in Chicago.
Kerry Wood nailed down the win with his fourth save, tossing a scoreless ninth.
The Indians scored the game's first two runs in fourth. Kearns knocked a run with a single, took second on the throw home and went to third on a wild pitch by Jake Peavy (4-5). He was then awarded home on Peavy's balk move to make it 2-0.
Peavy continued an inconsistent year for the White Sox. He surrendered a pair of runs on six hits over seven innings of work.
