Fowler retains 3-stroke Memorial lead

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 5 (UPI) -- Rickie Fowler stayed hot Saturday, firing a 3-under 69 to keep his three-stroke lead after three rounds of the Memorial Tournament in Ohio.

Fresh off setting a 36-hole record at Muirfield Village Friday, Fowler followed it up with another fine round, finishing the day at 16-under 200 and coming within two shots of Scott Hoch's 54-hole record, set in 1987.

Fowler could have finished at minus-17 but missed a short birdie putt at the 18th. Still, the 21-year-old was steady, playing a bogey-free round to finish three clear of Ricky Barnes and Tim Petrovic, who ended the day at 13-under 203.

Barnes had a spectacular day, carding a 10-under 62 while partnered with defending champ and four-time Memorial winner Tiger Woods, who shot a 3-under 69 and finished tied for 20th at 6-under 210.

Justin Rose (70) was one shot further back at minus-12 and Brendon de Jonge (65) was alone in fifth at 11-under 205.
