MLB: Milwaukee 2, NY Mets 0

MILWAUKEE, May 28 (UPI) -- Corey Hart hit a two-run homer with two out in the ninth inning Friday, giving Milwaukee a 2-0 victory over the New York Mets.

The Mets were coming off three straight shutouts of the Philadelphia Phillies and were trying to become the first major league team in 15 years to hold their opponents scoreless for four straight games.

New York's amazing run of 35 consecutive innings without a run allowed came to an end, however, when Hart hit his home run off Ryota Igarashi (0-1).

Pedro Feliciano opened the ninth inning on the mound and retired Prince Fielder on a grounder to open the frame.

Igarashi then relieved Feliciano and Ryan Braun hit the first pitch he saw for an infield single. Casey McGehee flew out to right, bringing Hart to the plate. He hammered a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left-center for the victory.

Yovani Gallardo went the distance for the Brewers to record the first shutout of his four-year career. Gallardo (5-2) gave up eight hits and struck out seven.

New York starter Johan Santana left after eight innings, having allowed three hits.
