MLB: Boston 2, Tampa Bay 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 25 (UPI) -- John Lester and three relievers combined to toss a one-hit shutout Tuesday in Boston's 2-0 whitewash of Tampa Bay.

Lester (5-2) allowed only a fourth-inning single to Willie Aybar over six innings of work, issuing five walks and striking out nine.

Manny Delcarmen, Daniel Bard and Jonathan Papelbon each dispatched the Rays without a hit in one inning of work apiece, with Papelbon notching his 11th save to give the Red Sox their seventh win in eight games.

David Ortiz provided the game's only offense, socking a two-run double in the third inning to score J.D. Drew and Kevin Youkilis.

Tampa Bay starter Scott Shields (5-2) pitched well in defeat, allowing only the two runs over eight innings, walking two and fanning five.
