BALTIMORE, May 16 (UPI) -- Jake Westbrook held Baltimore to one run Sunday, tossing a complete game in the Cleveland Indians' 5-1 victory.
Westbrook (2-2) scattered nine hits, issuing only a single walk and striking out eight in the 116-pitch effort. The only run he allowed was a solo homer by Luke Scott in the ninth inning to spoil his shutout bid.
The win was only the second in two years for Westbrook, the Indians' ace who has returned this spring after having Tommy John surgery in 2008.
Russell Branyan and Matt LaPorta each socked two-run homers in the Indians' victory, only their second in five games.
Mark Hendrickson (1-1) absorbed the loss for the Orioles, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings.
