Forsman posts 3-stroke Regions Charity win

HOOVER, Ala., May 16 (UPI) -- Dan Forsman came from behind Sunday, firing a 6-under-par 66 to capture the Regions Charity Classic by three strokes.

Forsman overcame second-round leader Bobby Clampett to comfortably claim the event one day after setting a new record at the Robert Trent Jones Trail at Ross Bridge with a 10-under 62.

Forsman finished with a 20-under 196, missing Hale Irwin's 2001 tournament record by only one stroke and winning his second career Champions Tour event.

He finished well ahead of Joe Ozaki (66) and Peter Senior (68), who ended tied for second at minus-17, and David Peoples registered a 4-under 68 to take fourth place at minus-15.

Jeff Sluman (68) shared fifth with Clampett, who fell on hard times with a 1-over 73 in the final round, ending at 14-under 202.
