MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Seattle 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 15 (UPI) -- Willy Aybar belted a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the ninth Saturday for a 3-2 Tampa Bay Rays win over Seattle.

Aybar's blast over the right-center field wall on a pitch from Jesus Colome (0-1) led off the Rays' ninth and capped a comeback that saw Tampa Bay erase a 2-0 Seattle lead late in the game.

The Rays forged a tie by scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth on a pinch-hit RBI single from Reid Brignac and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ben Zobrist.

Rafael Soriano (2-0) came on to pitch a scoreless top of the ninth to pick up the win.

Tampa Bay starter James Shields fanned 10 over eight innings, allowing two runs on six hits without a walk. Mariners starter Jason Vargas pitched eight shut-out innings in the hard-luck loss.
