Edberg, Fernandez-Castano share lead

SON SERVERA, Spain, May 15 (UPI) -- Pelle Edberg maintained a share of first place Saturday after three rounds of the Iberdrola Open at Mallorca, Spain.

Edberg, who co-led with James Kingston after Friday's second round, ended 54 holes tied with Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano of Spain at 4-under-par 206.


Edberg shot a 1-over 71 Saturday while Fernandez-Castano carded a 2-under 68, his third straight round of par or better.

Scott Hend shot a sizzling 4-under 66, enabling him to leap into third place at minus-3. Peter Hanson (67) and Alejandro Canizares (70) finished the day tied for fourth at 2-under 208.

Kingston, meanwhile, struggled Saturday, shooting a 4-over 74 and falling into a share of sixth place at minus-1.

The Iberdrola Open second round was finished earlier Saturday after weather problems caused a 2-hour delay.
