The game began under a threat of major thunderstorms and the rains finally forced a stoppage of play after five innings. Carmona (4-1) had a 2-0 lead when the rains came and three relievers completed the shutout.

Asdrubal Cabrera singled in two runs prior to the delay in the fifth and Russell Branyan added a two-run homer in the sixth.

Kyle Davies (2-2) suffered the loss. He gave up two runs on six hits over five innings. In his previous outing, Davies gave up nine runs and nine hits in just four innings against Texas.
