Report: Bradley left stadium during game

SEATTLE, May 5 (UPI) -- Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley packed up and left Safeco Field during a game after being benched, sources told the Seattle Times Wednesday.

Without identifying its sources, the newspaper said Manager Don Wakamatsu took Bradley out of the game following a sixth inning strikeout when the controversial outfielder returned to the dugout allegedly making comments along the lines of, "I'm done. I'm not helping the team."

Wakamatsu reportedly followed Bradley into the tunnel to urge him not to quit on his teammates, but the player instead left for the locker room, packed quickly and then exited the stadium while the game was still going on -- if true, a serious breach of team etiquette.

Mariners General Manager Jack Zduriencik wouldn't comment on the report nor would he verify if the account of the alleged incident was correct, the Times said.

"If there is an issue, it will be dealt with internally," he said.

The newspaper said Bradley has been putting himself under a lot of pressure since the Mariners obtained him in the off-season following a stormy tenure with the Chicago Cubs in which he clashed with fans, the media and team officials.
