PHILADELPHIA, May 5 (UPI) -- Kyle Kendrick and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout Wednesday, lifting Philadelphia to a 4-0 victory over St. Louis.

Danys Baez and Jose Contreras worked a perfect inning each to finish off Philadelphia's fourth victory in five games. It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Phillies.

Brad Penny (3-2) lost his second straight start, giving up three runs on five hits in six innings. After winning eight out of nine, St. Louis has lost back-to-back games and has scored only one run over those two losses.

Placido Polanco put Philadelphia in front with a two-run homer in the fourth and Shane Victorino had a solo shot in the sixth.

Philadelphia's Jayson Werth, who had reached base in 26 straight games, had that streak come to an end when he struck out in each of his three at-bats.
