CHICAGO, May 5 (UPI) -- Luke Hochevar pitched six strong innings and Jose Guillen homered Tuesday as the Kansas City Royals cruised to a 7-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Hochevar (3-1) yielded only one unearned run in his quality start, surviving four walks and three hits to pick up the victory.
Three Royals relievers later teamed to hold Chicago to one run over the final three innings.
Guillen's two-run blast highlighted a four-run seventh inning outburst that iced the game for Kansas City. Seven Royals collected at least two hits en route to a team total of 16.
White Sox starter Gavin Floyd (1-3) was ineffective, allowing six runs on 13 hits in 6 1/3 innings in the defeat.
