ESTORIL, Portugal, May 4 (UPI) -- Anabel Medina Garrigues pulled off her second shutout victory in a week with a win Tuesday at the $220,000 Estoril Open tennis tournament in Portugal.
Last week Medina Garrigues didn't drop a game in a win in Morocco over Lina Bennani and Tuesday repeated the feat with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Magali De Lattre.
Medina Garrigues, seeded fourth in Portugal, won 80 percent of the points in the 41-minute match against De Lattre. She lost only three points, and won 18-of-19 points off her first serve, over six service games.
Other seeded players had a much tougher time Tuesday. Second-seeded Sorana Cirstea needed three sets to advance, beating Ioana Raluca Olaru 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 while fifth-seeded Melinda Czink was beaten 6-4, 6-3 by Stefanie Voegele and No. 6-seeded Magdalena Rybarikova lost by the same score to Jarmila Groth.
Also, Kristina Barrois routed Jill Craybas 6-0, 6-2 but the first-round matches involving unseeded players went three sets. The winners of those matches were Anastasia Rodionova, Ekaterina Makarova, Arantxa Parra Santonja, Arantxa Rus and Michelle Larcher De Brito.
