MLB: Boston 17, Los Angeles Angels 8

BOSTON, May 4 (UPI) -- Dustin Pedroia's three-run shot highlighted a four-homer assault Monday as the Boston Red Sox pounded the Los Angeles Angels 17-8.

Mike Lowell collected three doubles and ended with four RBI while J.D. Drew chipped in with four hits and drove in three as Boston rebounded from a three-game sweep at the hands of Baltimore to trounce the Angels at the beginning of a 10-game homestand.

Adrian Beltre and Bill Hall contributed two-run dingers and Kevin Youkilis added a solo homer while Clay Buchholz (3-2) got the win for the Bosox despite allowing eight hits and four runs over 5 2/3 frames.

The Angels' Joe Saunders (1-5) continued a rough spring. He was lit up for nine hits and seven runs over four-plus innings, dropping his third consecutive start.

Los Angeles lost its fourth straight contest.
