LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda threw eight innings of one-run ball and Andre Ethier hit two homers Sunday, lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-3 victory over Pittsburgh.
Kuroda (3-1) pitched brilliantly, holding the Pirates to only one run on five hits and a walk while fanning three in a 97-pitch effort that included 13 groundouts.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers pounded Pittsburgh pitching for 16 hits as Ethier finished with three hits and four RBIs. Blake DeWitt stroked a career-high four hits.
Los Angeles took three of four games in the weekend series, outscoring the Pirates 20-6 in the trio of the wins.
Jeff Karstens (0-1) was roughed up for six runs on 11 hits and a walk in five innings in the Pittsburgh defeat.
