MLB: St. Louis 6, Cincinnati 3

ST. LOUIS, May 1 (UPI) -- Skip Schumaker's RBI single highlighted an eighth-inning rally Saturday and the St. Louis Cardinals downed Cincinnati 6-3.

Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday both drew bases-loaded walks in the decisive eighth. Pujols knocked in two runs and David Freese smacked a solo home run and a double for the Cardinals, who halted the Reds' five-game winning streak.

Ryan Franklin (1-0) posted the win after hurling 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Kyle Lohse, who struck out eight without walking a batter and allowed just one run on five hits in seven innings.

Cincinnati's Homer Bailey went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts. The Reds' bullpen let in three runs on three hits and four walks.

Carlos Fisher (0-1) got the loss while Joey Votto finished 2-for-4 and drove in a run in the loss.
