MLB: Detroit 3, Minnesota 0

DETROIT, April 29 (UPI) -- Dontrelle Willis and two relievers combined for a 4-hit shutout Thursday in the Detroit Tigers' 3-0 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Willis (1-1) gave up four hits and walked two while striking out six over six innings and Joel Zumaya pitched two no-hit innings before Jose Valverde came on in the ninth and earned his seventh save for Detroit.

The Tigers scored single runs in the first, fifth and eighth innings in beating Carl Pavano (3-2), who gave up seven hits and two earned runs in the complete game loss.

Austin Jackson opened the Tigers' first with a single. He stole second and went to third on catcher Drew Butera's throwing error and scored on a Johnny Damon sacrifice fly.

Jackson singled in Scott Sizemore, who had doubled with one out in the fifth. Detroit went up 3-0 in the eighth when Magglio Ordonez, who earlier had collected the 2,00th hit of his career, doubled with two out and score on a Don Kelly single.
