KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 28 (UPI) -- Ron Johnson hit a tie-breaking sacrifice fly and Chone Figgins socked a two-run triple Wednesday to boost the Seattle Mariners to a 6-5 win over Kansas City.

With the score tied 5-5 entering the eighth inning, Royals reliever Brad Thompson (0-1) allowed a lead-off double to Milton Bradley. Bradley moved to third on an out, and Dusty Hughes came on to pitch.

Casey Kotchmann drew a walk and Johnson lofted a sacrifice fly to left, plating Bradley with the go-ahead run.

Seattle's Mark Lowe and David Aardsma followed with two scoreless innings to preserve the win, with Aardsma racking up his eighth save of the year. The win went to Brandon League (3-1) who relieved starter Ryan Rowland-Smith in the sixth and extinguished a Royals rally.

Figgins' triple highlighted a three-run Mariners fifth inning.

Kansas City was led by Jason Kendall and Mitch Maier with two hits and two RBI apiece.
