NEW YORK, April 27 (UPI) -- Johan Santana and two relievers hurled a five-hit shutout Tuesday as the New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Santana (3-1) surrendered only four hits and three walks while fanning six in six innings. Fernando Nieve pitched two innings of one-hit ball and Pedro Feliciano picked up the save for the Mets, who were playing an early makeup game after Monday's series opener was rained out.
Luis Castillo blooped a two-run single and Jason Bay chipped in with a solo home run to provide the offense as New York improved to 7-1 on a 10-game homestand.
Hiroki Kuroda (2-1) took the loss for the Dodgers, yielding two runs on five hits over six innings
Reed Johnson hit a triple for Los Angeles, which lost for the fourth time in five games.
