CHICAGO, April 27 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears said Tuesday they have acquired safety Chris Harris from the Carolina Panthers for linebacker Jamar Williams.
The deal sends Harris back to Chicago, where he played two seasons for the Bears after being taken by the team in the sixth round of the 2005 draft.
Harris was dealt to Carolina for a 2008 fifth-round draft pick that the Bears used to choose cornerback Zackary Bowman.
In Harris' 69-game, five-year career, he has made 338 tackles, grabbed 10 interceptions, defensed 22 passes and forced 12 fumbles.
The four-year veteran Williams has recorded 89 tackles and made one sack in his Bears career.
