Matt Lindstrom shut the Cubs down in the bottom of the 10th to notch his second save while Tim Byrdak (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to get the win.

The Astros forced extra innings in the ninth, erasing a 2-1 deficit with an RBI double from Geoff Blum as the Cubs' Carlos Marmol blew a save opportunity.

Blum, Hunter Pence and Keppinger each collected a pair of hits for Houston, which took the rubber match of a three-game set at Wrigley Field.

Marlon Byrd collected three hits including a double and drove in both of Chicago's runs in the loss.
