BOSTON, April 17 (UPI) -- Pat Burrell pounded two-run homer in the 12th inning Saturday, giving the Tampa Bay Rays a 3-1 win over Boston to complete Friday's suspended game.
The game was resumed Saturday after rain halted play in the bottom of the ninth Friday night with the score tied 1-1.
The score remained tied until Red Sox reliever Manny Delcarmen (0-1) walked Evan Longoria to start the 12th inning and, two outs later, Burrell's drive found the left-center field seats to put the Rays ahead for good.
Burrell's blast gained him his first two RBI of the year while Lance Cormier (2-0) pitched three innings to notch the victory, wiggling out of an 11th inning jam in which he loaded the bases with no outs.
Rafael Soriano picked up his third save of the year after allowing a Jason Veritek double but then buckling down to get two outs, inducing Marco Scutaro to fly out to end the game.
