Jaidee, Kim lead golf's China Open

SUZHOU, China, April 15 (UPI) -- Thongchai Jaidee and Kim Do-hoon each shot 8-under-par 64 Thursday and are tied for the lead after one round of the China Open, a European Tour stop.

The scores of 64 set a record at the Suzhou Jinji Lake Golf Club and were worth a 2-stroke lead for Jaidee and Kim over Jamie Donaldson, Pablo Larrazabal and Wen-chong Liang, who are tied for third. Four golfers, including Corey Pavin, are tied for sixth at 5-under 67.

Jaidee, who missed last week's Masters tournament because of an arm injury, had an eagle and six birdies on the day. He had four birdies over the last five holes of the front nine. His eagle came at the 563-yard, par 5 14th hole and he moved into the lead with birdies at Nos. 16 and 17.

Kim, playing the second nine first Thursday, opened with consecutive birdies and added another at the 13th hole before also getting an eagle at No. 14. He reached 6-under with a birdie at 16 but suffered a bogey at No. 18.

He twice had consecutive birdies on the front nine -- at Nos. 2-3 and again at Nos. 8-9 -- but also had a bogey at the sixth hole.
