SAN FRANCISCO, April 14 (UPI) -- Jonathan Sanchez scattered three hits over eight strong innings, fanning 11 as the San Francisco Giants bounced Pittsburgh 6-0 Wednesday.
Sanchez (1-0) walked three in the gem and Brian Wilson was untouchable in the ninth, pitching a scoreless inning to finish the game.
The Giants' offense was supplied by Eli Whiteside, who smashed a three-run homer in the second inning, while Aubrey Huff collected an inside-the-park home run earlier in the frame.
Aaron Rowand tacked on a two-run shot in the fifth for good measure.
Charlie Morton (0-2) started and lost for the Pirates, allowing six runs on eight hits over six innings.
Pittsburgh has lost five of its last seven games after beginning the season with a pair of wins.
