DETROIT, April 14 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen collected three hits, pounded a solo homer and scored a pair of runs Wednesday as the Kansas City Royals took a 7-3 win from Detroit.
The Royals' offense was on track, striking for 17 hits as Kansas City took the rubber match of a three-game series at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Kansas City's David DeJesus and Billy Butler each registered two RBI while Jason Kendall was 4-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
Kyle Davies (1-0) notched the win with a 6 2/3-inning performance, during which he allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
Detroit was led by Johnny Damon who had a 2-for-5 day at the plate with an RBI while Magglio Ordonez smacked a solo homer.
Reliever Ryan Perry (0-1) was charged with the loss after a rough seventh inning.
