WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., April 14 (UPI) -- Jeff Bzdelik, who has been the men's basketball coach at Colorado, will take over a similar position at Wake Forest, the ACC school said Wednesday.

Bzdelik, 57, takes over at Wake Forest in place of Dino Gaudio, who was fired last week after three seasons. The Demon Deacons were 61-31 under Gaudio.

Bzdelik coached at Maryland-Baltimore County and the Air Force Academy before moving to Colorado. He was 25-31 in two seasons at UMBC and 50-16 in two years at Air Force.

The Colorado Buffaloes were 36-58 over three seasons under Bzdelik, including a 2009-10 record of 15-16.

"This is a bittersweet day for myself and my family," Bzdelik said. "While we are tremendously excited about the opportunity to be at Wake Forest, we are also saddened to leave the many friends, colleagues, fans, student-athletes and relationships that we developed in Colorado.

"We greatly enjoyed our team and feel like the Colorado program is on the verge of having a truly outstanding year. I wish them all the best for the future."
