MLB: Detroit 6, Kansas City 5

DETROIT, April 13 (UPI) -- Carlos Guillen's two-run double in the seventh inning Tuesday capped a six-run comeback, boosting the Detroit Tigers to a 6-5 win over Kansas City.

Trailing 5-0 entering the frame, the Tigers fought back to take the lead. Guillen's key hit erased a 5-4 Royals advantage and put Detroit up for good at 6-5.

Gerald Laird, Scott Sizemore and Austin Jackson also had RBI doubles in the Tigers' fateful frame. Sizemore and Laird boasted two hits each for the game.

Dontrelle Willis started for Detroit, allowing four runs on nine hits in the course of five innings while Joel Zumaya (2-0) picked up the victory with two innings of relief, during which he surrendered a run on four hits.

Jose Valverde notched his second save after hurling a perfect ninth inning.

The Royals' loss went to Dusty Hughes (0-1), one of three Kansas City relievers who were raked for four runs on five hits and three walks in the seventh.
