NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Florida 1

SUNRISE, Fla., April 11 (UPI) -- Steven Stamkos scored his 51st goal Sunday to help the Tampa Bay Lightning beat Florida 3-1 and tie Sidney Crosby for the NHL scoring crown.

Stamkos' marker in the Bolts' final game of the season tied him with Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the league lead and a share of the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the NHL's top goal-getter.

Stamkos and Crosby finished one ahead of Washington superstar Alex Ovechkin, who failed to score in the Capitals' final regular-season game Sunday.

Stamkos got the goal with under a minute to go in the game. After the Panthers pulled goalie Scott Clemmensen to gain an extra attacker, he collected the puck in the neutral zone, skated past a pair of Panthers and plunked the puck into an empty net.

Alex Tanguay and Vincent Lecavalier also scored for Tampa Bay, while Rostislav Olesz notched Florida's only goal.
