CINCINNATI, April 11 (UPI) -- Ramon Hernandez drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning Sunday, boosting the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Scott Rolen collected a pair of hits and walked twice while highly-anticipated rookie pitcher Mike Leake debuted by allowing just one run on four hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Cincinnati posted the win in the rubber game of three-game set with the Cubs.
Leake was taken eighth overall by the Reds in last June's amateur draft and with the no-decision became only the 21st player since 1965 to make his big league debut without playing in the minors. While the rookie was a bit wild -- walking seven -- also he fanned five.
Chicago was led by Derrek Lee, who knocked in the Cubs' only run, while Kosuke Fukudome collected a trio hits.
The Cubs went 2-4 on their season-opening road trip.
