MLB: Boston 8, Kansas City 6

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 11 (UPI) -- Dustin Pedroia collected four hits including a home run and Adrian Beltre added three hits Sunday as the Boston Red Sox defeated Kansas City 8-6.

Beltre drove in a run and Jeremy Hermida had a pair of RBIs for the Red Sox, who have split their first six games of the season.

Clay Buchholz (1-0), in his first start of 2010, got the win, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his second save with a perfect ninth.

The Royals got a pair of homers and four RBI from Jose Guillen in the loss.

In his first start of the season, Gil Meche (0-1) -- returning from a shoulder injury -- lasted just 3 1/3 innings and was chased after giving up seven runs on eight hits.
