Andreev, Seppi, Berrer win at Monte Carlo

MONTE CARLO, Monaco, April 11 (UPI) -- Russia's Igor Andreev and Andreas Seppi of Italy were among the first-round winners Sunday at the Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco.

Germany's Michael Berrer also advanced Sunday before the session was postponed due to rain and strong winds.

Andreev struggled to cope with the wind and rain as he notched a 6-3, 6-4 win over Italian wild card Simone Bolelli.

Seppi, meanwhile, prevailed when Belgian Olivier Rochus retired with a back injury during a 7-6 (7-3) tiebreaker, while Berrer had little trouble dismantling Evgeny Korolev of Kazakhstan in a 6-1, 6-4 match.

Another match between Germany's Benjamin Becker and Australian wild card Bernard Tomic was pushed back to Monday.
