LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Shawn Horcoff's goal in the second round of the shootout was the game-winner Saturday as the Edmonton Oilers defeated Los Angeles 4-3.
Horcoff got the puck past Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick on a backhander to break a 1-1 shootout tie, and Devan Dubnyk stopped Ryan Smyth on the ensuing chance to secure the victory for the Oilers, who will finish their worst season since 1993-94 Sunday in Anaheim.
Edmonton also got two goals from Mike Comrie tallied while Tom Gilbert chipped in with a goal and two assists in the victory.
Dubnyk was extremely busy in nets, stopping 52 of 55 shots through three periods and a five-minute overtime.
Los Angeles got goals from Dustin Brown, Michal Handzus and Jarret Stoll. The Kings -- who hold the sixth seed in the Western Conference -- prepared to wrap up their season at Colorado Sunday.
