MLB: Toronto 7, Texas 4

ARLINGTON, Texas, April 8 (UPI) -- Vernon Wells hit two homers Wednesday, including a two-run shot that put Toronto in front for good, bringing the Blue Jays a 7-4 win over Texas.

Wells hit his two-run blast in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead and added a solo shot in the ninth. Alex Gonzalez also homered for the Blue Jays, who dropped a 5-4 decision to Texas on opening day.

Brian Tallet got the victory by lasting 6 2/3 innings while giving up four runs, two earned, on four hits and six strikeouts.

Rich Harden, making his Texas debut, gave up three runs in 3 2/3 innings, but did not figure in the decision. Harden walked five batters, including one with the bases loaded.

Dustin Nippert took the loss, allowing three runs on one hit with four walks.

Vladimir Guerrero and Nelson Cruz hit back-to-back home runs for the Rangers to tie it in the fourth. Cruz has homered in both Rangers' games this season.
