PITTSBURGH, April 6 (UPI) -- Alex Ovechkin netted a pair of third-period goals Tuesday, boosting the Washington Capitals to a 6-3 win over Pittsburgh.
Alexander Semin, Tomas Fleischmann, Matt Bradley and Mike Knuble also scored while Semyon Varlamov made 26 saves in Washington's fourth straight win.
The Capitals will finish with the NHL's best regular-season record and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
Jordan Leopold's goal less than a minute into the final period narrowed the Caps' lead to 4-3, but Ovechkin responded 2 minutes later on a power play to put Washington comfortably ahead.
Sidney Crosby got his NHL-best 48th goal and added two helpers for the Penguins. They trail the New Jersey Devils by two points in the Atlantic Division chase.
